can anyone become a member?

Yes! Our club is primarily run by and for Ryerson students, alumni, staff, and faculty, but anyone looking to sharpen their skills and have a great time is welcome.

How do I join?

We are a Ryerson University club, but are open to anyone who wants to improve their communication and leadership skills!

We recommend anyone considering joining attends a meeting first. The best way to see if Toastmasters is for you is to try it out. If you want to join let us know at the meeting or reach out to our VP Membership through our Contact Page.

quick tips for new members

• Ask for a mentor, an experienced Toastmaster to help you with meeting roles and speeches
• Use stories, examples and anecdotes to craft a speech
• Don’t overwhelm your audience with too much information
• Practice speaking. Practice often
• Begin and end every speech strongly.

How are you dealing with COVID-19

Our meetings have moved to Zoom and will continue to be online until it is safe to return to in-person meetings.

We have put a lot of thought and work into making sure you get the same great Toastmasters experience you’re used to. We’ve made a lot of progress and managed to achieve the Online Education Gold award for our excellent standard of education during the pandemic.

What is the time commitment?

Like most things, you get out what you put in! To make the most out of your Ryerson Toastmasters experience, (we would suggest) committing to club meetings and events throughout the year! Our weekly club meetings last an hour and a half each session.

There are a few basic requirements of Ryerson Toastmaters members:

The cost for Non-Ryerson new members is the standard Toastmasters International 65 USD (prorated depending on how long the membership lasts, might be less depending on the time of year)
